Dry skin tips

A small study conducted in 2022 found that dry skin can be addressed by following a consistent skincare regimen. Before we discuss dry skin tips, we must first understand their causes. So, let’s delve deeper into the subject.

Causes of dry skin

Dry skin is very comfortable and is usually characterized by cracking, scaling, and itching. It usually occurs in the skin of the legs, arms, and legs, but it can affect any body part.

Internal factors of dry skin

Shawnda Dorantes, the co-owner of a beauty medical spa and lounge, says a few of the noticeable causes of dry skin include the following-

  • Hard water
  • Environment
  • Excessive washing
  • Genetics
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Diabetes
  • Exposure to irritants

External factors of dry skin

Experts say that dry skin’s causes can be internal and external. Having identified the internal factors, the external factors usually include

  • Using harsh chemical-laden soaps
  • Humidity
  • Bathing habits

Dry skin can be very painful. It shrinks, eventually cracks, and, in many cases, bleeds. This condition is also susceptible to bacterial infestation, which can lead to infection.

So, how will you prevent such a condition from developing? You can follow these dry skin tips that will save you a lot of pain and discomfort. These include the following-

  • Cleansing—The first step to addressing dry skin is cleansing. The best product is a hydrating cleaner, which will remove the grime and dust that settles on the skin throughout the day. A hydrating cleanser will not remove the outer layer of the skin. Hyaluronic acid is your best bet.
  • Toning—Avoid a toner that contains alcohol. It dries up the skin further. Using a pH-balanced toner will ensure that your skin is not devoid of moisture.
  • Moisturizing – A good moisturizer for dry skin will not dry out your skin. Instead, it will lock the serum inside the skin. However, when you select a moisturizer for the skin, use one that will not clog the pores. When you buy, look for” noncomedogenic” on the bottle.
  • Protection – To protect your dry skin, use sunscreen for ultimate protection. This is one of the dry skin tips that you cannot avert.
  • Apply petroleum jelly to your lips or use shea butter-based lip balms containing peptides.
  • Apply moisturizer immediately after bathing or washing your hands. This will help plug the spaces between your skin cells and seal in moisture while your skin is still damp.
  • Limit your bathing or showering to one at 5-10 minutes daily. If you take more than that, you could strip away so much of the oily layer from the skin, and it dries up.

Having known facial moisturizer, let us find out how you can take care of your dry skin of the body. For cleaning your body, use the following-

  • Cocoa butter
  • Aloe vera
  • Olive oil
  • Avocado
  • Jojoba
  • Glycerin
  • Lanolin
  • Hyaluronic acid

For moisturizing the body, use the following-

  • Glycerin
  • Jojoba oil
  • Shea butter
  • Hyaluronic acid
  • Ceramides

  • Lanolin

Internally, try not to take too much caffeine. Avoid hot water baths too frequently. Most importantly, stay away from products that have harsh chemicals like –
