Unlike any other salad, which is full of green vegetables and chopped leaves and usually filled with dressing, the modern Watergate Salad is different.

What is the Modern Watergate Salad?

The Watergate salad does not contain vegetables. It combines canned pineapples, whipped cream, pistachio pudding mix, and chopped nuts. Surprisingly, the concoction turns mint green after being prepared.

It is said to be similar to the Watergate Cake because it looks like a cake, as it is made of whipped cake and pistachio pudding. In the following paragraphs, let us determine how you will prepare the Modern Watergate Salad.

Preparing the Modern Watergate Salad

To start with, let us focus on a few things that you needed in  the salad, including –

Ingredients

The quantity of ingredients mentioned here will serve 8 people.

  • 1 (8 ounce) can of crushed pineapple in juice form without draining.
  • 1 (3.4 ounce) pistachio flavor packaged with instant pudding and a mix of pie fillings.
  • A cup of marshmallows (miniature ones).
  • ½ cup of dry and roasted pistachio nuts that you must chop well. Keep aside some more for garnishing.
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar.
  • ½ cup of whipped cream.
  • For garnishing, take cherries that are soaked in syrup without draining.

Directions

The steps for preparing the salad are given below. Let’s go through them.

Step 1: Pistachios, marshmallows, pudding mix, and pineapple are mixed in a large bowl.
Step 2: Take another bowl and beat the sugar and cream thoroughly.

Step 3: Mix the whipped cream with the pineapple mixture.

Step 4: Chill the mixture for up to a day or at least 1 or 2 hours.

Step 5: Finally, Garnish with cherries and pistachios.
