Oppo Reno 10 5G: Elegance and Efficiency in One Package

Since its founding, OPPO has been a leading manufacturer of affordable smartphones. While it does produce some excellent flagship models, its core product line is still its entry-level and mid-range models. Their most recent mid-range product, the Oppo Reno 10 5G, demonstrates this in great detail.  Given the recent price increases for almost everything under the sun, it may be necessary to re-evaluate the entry, mid, and premium smartphone ranges. Still, at $749, the Reno10 5G is comfortably within any mid-range before and after the current inflationary period.

Continue reading to find out why, in our opinion, the Reno10 5G and the Google Pixel 7a offer the best value for the money of any smartphone available in Australia.

The cost and accessibility

Like many of the brand’s phones, the Oppo Reno 10 was announced in August 2023 and is only available in the UK and Australia. It is not accessible in the US. Oppo usually reserves odd-numbered entries for Chinese markets. Still, you can pick up this single version for Oppo Reno 10 price: £399, a slight but welcome savings from the Oppo Reno 8, launched globally for £419 last year.

Display and build quality

The display is a large 6.7-inch 1080P 3D AMOLED with a refresh rate of 120Hz, protected by Japanese-made AGC DT-Star2 scratch-resistant glass.  You can rest easy knowing this AMOLED display is well-protected thanks to its scratch resistance, which produces results comparable to Gorilla Glass. The in-display fingerprint sensor is a different feature that isn’t found in as many mid-range smartphones.  Like every other OPPO smartphone we’ve ever used, it was repeatable, accurate, and quick.  How much more is there to ask for?

This year, all of the buttons are on the right side of the phone, which we like because it prevents accidental volume button pushes when turning the display on or off.

The device’s rear features a sizable camera island with a triple camera configuration: an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 32MP telephoto camera, and a 64MP primary camera.  The 32MP front selfie camera is respectable; its specifications, which seem to be flagship-level, defy the mid-range label.

The review unit’s Ice Blue color is fantastic, even though harsh smartphone colors can often be divisive.  In certain lights, it appears blue; in others, it seems pink or silver.  Although OPPO has used this chameleon coloration on numerous phones, the Reno10 5G’s matte application is remarkable.  Although we’ve tried to capture it in the pictures and video below, you must see it yourself.

Specs Of Oppo Reno 10

In the past, we thoroughly studied a phone’s specifications to estimate how quick and responsive it would be. Nowadays, almost all phones can function precisely how we need them to. This also applies to the Oppo Reno 10 5 G.

Nowhere was there any lag.  Apps opened and closed smoothly, behaving as you would expect.  You would assume it’s flawless on its own.  You won’t notice a difference unless you compare it side by side with a flagship smartphone.  The speed difference between opening and switching between apps is extremely slight, but considering that it is half the price, it is very acceptable.

The specifications of the Oppo Reno 10 series, for those who are curious, are as follows:

  • MediaTek Dimensity 7050 Octa-core CPU
  • RAM of 8 GB
  • Storage capacity of 256GB
  • For the mid-range, the MediaTek chipset functions flawlessly.

Camera

According to OPPO, the 32MP Telephoto portrait camera on the Reno10 5G, which is powered by a Sony IMX709 RGBW sensor, offers an “enhanced portrait camera.”  A 64MP f/1.7 primary camera and an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera are also included.  The camera system provides some flexibility with support for both 20x digital zoom and 2x optical zoom.

The camera system’s primary goal in real-world circumstances is to enable users to take natural photographs in any setting, including dim lighting. Even in low light, the portraits performed well with correct background blurring, while they had trouble with facial characteristics. Even at a distance, the camera’s reproduction of the subject’s colors was natural and retained some reasonable detail.

Life of a Battery

Of all the manufacturers in Australia, OPPO offers the finest charging solution. The OPPO Reno10 5G is still the greatest option available on the market, even though it can only support 67W SUPERVOOC charging. Because of the speed, you can leave your phone charging overnight without even having to worry.

Conclusion

In recent years, some excellent mid-range smartphones have been introduced. As living expenses continue rising, we may expect more consumers to purchase in this market category. The 120Hz refresh rate of the large, brilliant, curved AMOLED display on the Oppo Reno 10 5G makes it a smooth and fluid-looking smartphone that fits well in the hand. The chipset is more than capable of facilitating seamless switching between programs and even the most demanding games.
