Samsung offers two unique foldable phones. The Z Fold5 is a machine for productivity. The Samsung Flip 5 is a reasonably priced foldable and provides a capable but portable gadget.
The largest selling point of the Z Flip5 is its large screen, which folds up nicely to fit into your pocket. When the phone is flipped, its unique design enables a larger display for the full smartphone experience. However, it becomes small and lightweight when folded, making it easy to transport without compromising screen size. This year, Samsung has greatly enhanced the Z Flip5’s cover screen, giving it more power and improving its use.
How Much Does It Cost?
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 costs $999. Samsung kindly doubles the storage capacity of the base model while keeping the pricing the same. It now has 256GB of storage instead of the Flip 4’s 128GB. The 512GB model is another option if you require more.
On July 26, Samsung released the Galaxy Z Flip 5, and the same day, preorders went up. What was the Samsung Flip 5 release date? It started to be sold in stores on August 11, 2023.
Design of Samsung Flip 5
On the left side of the device are the volume rockers, power button with integrated fingerprint scanner, SIM slot, USB Type-C connector, loudspeaker grill, and primary microphone. On the top side is the secondary microphone.
It retains its IPX8 water resistance certifications, Armor Aluminum frame, and hinge cover; however, the Flex Window and back cover now have Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection. It has the same weight as the Z Flip4.
The phone’s internal front camera is 10MP. On the upper edge is an earphone that doubles as a backup speaker. Apart from our current Mint color option, the phone is also available in Cream, Graphite, and Lavender hues.
A Major Improvement for Smaller Screens
The Samsung Flip phone has a 6.7-inch Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex display. The display is brilliant, with a peak brightness of 1750 nits as opposed to the previous model’s 1200 nits. It has good color reproduction and is legible in direct sunlight. Because of its AMOLED panel, it provides genuine blacks.
Its 120 Hz, refresh rate screen provides a more fluid gaming, navigation, and animation experience for the user. You may read multiple notifications on the huge display and use it as a viewfinder for your camera. It also allows you to type a response to a WhatsApp message using the small screen and rapid replies to messages in other apps.
Camera
The Galaxy Z flip phone and the Z Flip4 have the same dual camera setup. In addition to the cover screen preview feature, you may take pictures with the outer screen.
Regarding picture quality, daytime photos turn out well, with the camera capturing a good amount of detail and producing well-exposed images with good dynamic range and detailing. Up to 10x digital zoom is available. In daylight, the 12MP camera produces good ultra-wide photos. As usual, edge detection in portraiture is good.
The low-light performance is good and can be further enhanced using the Night mode, which provides additional details. Images with flash are acceptable as long as they are not too strong. It has the same internal 10MP front camera.
Performance
Regarding performance, the Samsung Flip 5 unfolds similarly to any other flagship Android device. Samsung has chosen to use a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU with 256GB of internal storage and 8GB of RAM. Everything, including graphically demanding games, will run smoothly on it. You can also extract up to 8GB more RAM from the memory if you need more. The 6.7-inch screen is a little small, but it can handle two apps at once. The volume and power buttons are conveniently located at the top right of Samsung devices. The power button is always on the right.
Using the Galaxy Z Flip5 as our daily driver was fantastic; we conducted most of our work on the main display and constantly checked the cover screen for notifications, navigation, and photos. However, a day was quick enough to use the 3700 mAh battery.
Final Words
Even though the display, camera, or battery haven’t changed, the Samsung Flip 5 is still a good upgrade over the Galaxy Z Flip4, primarily because of its superior hinge design and improved outside screen. In comparison to its competitors, it is more fashionable and adaptable.
