The MacBook Air M2 is costlier as compared to the predecessor. The MI is still around for many. The MacBook Air underwent a few upgrades besides a few bigger ones. Let us find out whether it is worth spending money on the device.

MacBook Air M2 (2022) – Design

Unlike the M1 MacBook Air, which was not distinguishable from the earlier intel-based versions, it differs from the M2 MacBook Air. The appearance is more or less like a 14-inch MacBook Pro but with fewer ports.

There is no wedge-shaped MacBook Air but a uniformly thick base with a flat lid. There is a sturdy all-aluminum chassis. The finish and fit are excellent, as you would expect a Mac product to be. But one difference is that Apple did not keep the MacBook Air inscription from the display below, and you will not find it anywhere on the device.

As far as the display of this series is concerned, the MacBook Air M2 display has a notch like the MacBook Pro models. This allows it to accommodate a 1080p FaceTime camera, which has an improved version of it.

The bezels that used to be on the sides and top have shrunk. This has allowed Apple to fit in larger and taller 13.6-inch LED-backlit panels with a resolution of 2560×1664 pixels. An increase of brightness by 100 nits as compared to M1 Air 400 nits. The refresh rate is 60Hz. The other features like P3 wide-color gamut coverage and True Tone remain there.

Battery Life

The battery life of this series has been one of the main attractions. The same has just gotten better ever since Apple migrated to its silicon. It lasts for about seven to eight hours on a normal day. As such, you could also use it for some light games or watching a movie post-work. The battery drainage is minimal. Apple also offers a 67W power adapter, which is said to help charge the M2 from 0% to 50% in just an hour. The adapter has a Type-C port.

As per Apple, you will notice the difference in performance between MacBook Air 1 and MacBook Air M2 when it comes to heavier tasks. These tasks can include transcoding ProRes RAW video files and transcoding and video editing. In a nutshell, the MacBook Air M2 is an excellent upgrade over the M1 MacBook Air. You can select 512Gb SSD so that you can keep bottlenecks at bay.

Enhanced Connectivity and Features

Besides its fantastic performance and design, the MacBook Air M2 has many features and connectivity options to help you be more productive. Every element of the MacBook Air M2, including the Thunderbolt ports for fast data transmission and the advanced security features like Touch ID and secure enclave, is made to protect your data and optimize your workflow.
